I’m guilty
Adam silk draped dolman top found on Gilt Groupe today
Guilty as in ‘Gilty’; without the bad feelings. You know my propensity to only shop from my Wish List (most of the time, anyway). Well, this exact top was on my Wish List. Only today it was quite a bit cheaper. I’m thinking black cocktail shorts, white cocktail shorts, dark denim cuffed shorts, dark skinnies, trouser jeans, white jeans, boyfriend jeans paired with these (or boyfriend shorts paired with chunky heels), and my black pencil skirt. Enough things to work it with to make it well worth my limited closet space (and allocation of the wardrobe budget).
I’ve been a big fan of Guilt Groupe, which provides access, by invitation only, to Men’s, Women’s and Children’s coveted fashion and luxury brands at prices up to 70% off retail. Each sale lasts 36 hours and features hand selected styles from a single designer. Would you like the invitation? Here you go! Great place to shop from you Wish List and fill those wardrobe holes.

Precious metals
Stuart Weitzman Archery T-strap sandals
I’m on a shoe roll (I’m a shoe girl). Metallic flats are a great summer staple to have; I think they are essential. These are fabulous. I had last year’s version and sort of ruined them. Not because of the construction of the sandal. It was completely my fault. Why I chose to wear them for two weeks along the dirt (and rocky) roads of a Costa Rican surfing village; I have no explanation (other than: they were my ‘evening’ shoes). Thank goodness these are a great find on Bloomies right now; 30% off! For this summer’s vacation, I will leave them at home and just wear my Havaianas (or, at the very least, make sure to only take a cab while wearing them)!
Shoe adoration
Coclico Shoes Odalisk Keyhole Sandal
I adore these shoes, probably more than any others I have. Very comfy and they wear so well. I pair them with boyfriend jeans, skinnies, dresses, pencil skirt, and even boyfriend shorts; I’m getting the cost per wear down (almost on a daily basis!). I keep my wish list as short as possible and I’m willing to spend the money on a great pair of shoes that I love, love and will wear often than spend a little money on an impulse buy. A pair, that is, that will be worn little or get tossed the following season.
I love going to these shoes to finish an outfit. And, I know I will continue to wear them in the fall and for years to come. I feel like the allocation of the clothing budget was well spent in this case (not to mention, I used a nice promo code). In fact, I have never received so many compliments on a pair of shoes (except for these, but we’ll save those for fall). If you are a 9.5, you are in luck. If not, you can find a few other sizes here
. I will definitely post if I see a better deal.
What about you? What was your favorite wardrobe addition of the season?

Metallic essentials
Metallic T-strap sandals from J. Crew
To address a comment (another reader/college friend):
Hi friend! I’m working on my essentials! Do flip flops count as metalic flats?... I am a size 5 and most places don’t carry that small. J Crew always has some. They have a few metallic styles - mostly flip flops. Check em out!
Hi Jen! LOVE J. Crew. The do have the cute metallic flip flops, but I really like these T-straps. They do have a size 5 for you!

The Boyfriend factor

To address a question from a reader (and college friend- this is fun, by the way. Keep the questions coming!):
Jennifer…I really don’t like Boyfriend jeans/shorts…they are so sloppy looking and unflattering. Katie Holmes doesn’t even carry them off that well. What do you think? Am I out of touch? Old fashioned?
You are right, they are kind of sloppy. Sort of the beauty. But still so chic, depending how you wear them. If the Sartorialist posts a shot of someone wearing BF jeans from the streets of Milan, you know they are undeniably chic.
They are so comfy and great to grab and go for the summer. And, they don’t have to be worn as messy as they are seen in the magazines. I have the Rich & Skinny’s. They are darker and less distressed. And, I will say, they look dressier (of course) when I’ve got some height for the heel. If you are looking for some BF jeans that are not sloppy, these
Paige Premium Denim BF jeans are great. My Cakewalk co-blogger has them (In fact she’s wearing them in our little photo on the left sidebar). And, of course, the Current Elliott’s are cool, but very slouchy (some styles more so than others). I bought their BF shorts
in a size smaller than normal and they were still a little too big. I don’t mind slouchy, but I refuse to constantly tug at my waistband. I gave them up and I’m in the market for another pair of BF shorts. In any case, I would recommend going one size smaller. I have yet to talk to someone that wishes they would have stayed true to their typical size regarding Boyfriend’s, but have heard from a many that they wish they had gone down.
Juxtaposition
House of Harlow Gladiator Cuff
Today was a fabulously fun day of shopping with a client at Nordstrom. We were shopping for her Wish List. Typically, I stress that there is no hurry to fulfill the Wish List, we’ll look out for the promo codes. She, on the other hand, wanted everything now. Actually, she wanted it all yesterday. Ok! We can do that! And we did. Her lookbook is going to be amazing. She gave me permission to share it here when it’s complete!
She wanted to infuse some ‘Rocker Chic’ (she can pull that off beautifully). We created some ensembles that are a mixture of a little bit romantic (i.e. Robert Rodriguez) and a little bit tough-girl chic (I Love a juxtaposition). I think the cuff above is a perfect accompaniment.
